Paul Hertz, Ph.D
Dr. Paul Hertz is a founding partner of Hertz-Reeder Print Strategies and President of The Paul Hertz Group, a management consulting and training firm founded in 1981, specializing in the improvement of productivity and performance. Dr. Hertz has given hundreds of speeches, interviews and presentations and has published numerous articles on management and productivity in prestigious publications including the Harvard Business Review, Industry Week and Quality Magazine.

Dr. Hertz began his consulting career as a close protege of Dr. W. Edwards Deming, the primary force behind the Quality Movement in the world. Dr. Hertz earned a Doctorate Degree in Statistics and Operations Research from New York University's Stern Graduate School of Business where he first met Dr. Deming. Dr. Hertz was a founder, along with Dr. Deming, of the Deming Institute for the Improvement of Quality and Productivity, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving quality and productivity in the U.S., and in the 1980’s was an Executive Director of the organization. Dr. Hertz has multiple citations in Dr. Deming’s groundbreaking book, Out of the Crisis.

Dr. Hertz started The Paul Hertz Group to help operationalize Dr. Deming's teachings. For over two decades, Dr. Hertz has coached and advised hundreds of leaders and managers of Fortune 500 companies from such industry segments as chemicals, plastics, publishing, printing, paper manufacturing, hospitality, health care, communications and consumer products. Clients include: Burger King Corporation, Carnival Cruise Lines, BellSouth Mobility, CBS, Fuji Film, Georgia Gulf, National City Mortgage, Random House, E.I. DuPont, Reader's Digest, Pacific Bell, Proctor & Gamble, Detroit Medical Center, Motorola, Union Camp Corporation, The Federal Judicial Center, Wayne State University and the U.S. Department of Defense (Army, Navy, Air Force). He was also a personal advisor to senior officers representing various branches of U.S. Naval Operations.

It was during this time that Dr. Hertz and his partner, Debra Levine Hertz, began to uncover the importance of understanding personality as a blockage to improving individual and organizational performance. Since Dr. Hertz began his consulting career, he was always intrigued by the degree of dysfunctional behavior that he observed in corporations, even in the most successful and profitable organizations. As a result, in 1998, Dr. Hertz began the research and design of a unique organization and personal development system called “Print®". This system focuses on strengthening “Best Self” behavior and reducing “Shadow” behavior. He is also currently working on a book about the negative impact of Shadow behavior in organizations.

Dr. Hertz is passionate about Print – making a contribution to individuals and organizations and developing new applications using his Print knowledge unleashes this passion.

Debra Levine Hertz, MBA
Debra Levine Hertz, in addition to being a founding partner of Hertz-Reeder Print Strategies, is also Executive Vice President of The Paul Hertz Group – a management consulting, training and assessment company dedicated to improving workplace communication, performance, and profitability. As EVP since 1987, Debra has been a major force behind the development of many of the company’s solutions-driven products and services. She is also responsible for assessing client needs, generating tailored programs and strategies to meet these needs, and overseeing the deployment of these programs and strategies by trainers and consultants in the field.

In 1998, Debra achieved yet another milestone. Fascinated by the range of behaviors observed within client organizations, and fueled by a desire to understand the root issues responsible for such diversity of perspectives and behaviors, she developed with her partner (in life and work), Dr. Paul Hertz, the groundbreaking Print system. This proprietary system, adopted by scores of private and public sector organizations, has made a powerful impact in helping people understand one another, get along better, build greater trust, improve their motivational and leadership skills, and be more personally productive and effective in both their private and work lives. Debra played a significant role in not only co-developing Print and co-authoring its many profiles and reports, she was also instrumental in expanding Print into its many applications, including corporate hiring, leadership development and team building programs.

Debra Levine Hertz's professional experience includes one additional highlight…serving as Administrative Director of the Deming Institute. In this capacity she managed initiatives focused on increasing the awareness of US business and industry about Dr. W. Edward Deming's worldwide contributions to improving quality and productivity. Also during this time, Debra Levine Hertz received multiple citations in Dr. Deming's book, Out of the Crisis and was featured in the March 1988 “CPI Purchasing Magazine’s” special quality issue in a full length article entitled “An Action Plan for Quality.”

True to her Print, Debra Levine Hertz is the assertive, energetic and detail driven member of the Hertz-Reeder team, who recognizes that staying in Best Self is often not easy, but always worth the effort.

Debra received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania and Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami.
